What year did Alfred Stieglitz first exhibit Georgia O'Keeffe's work at his gallery 291?

The story behind the answer

Alfred Stieglitz first exhibited Georgia O'Keeffe's work at his gallery 291 in 1916.

Stieglitz displayed some of O'Keeffe's abstract charcoal drawings in 1916 at his New York gallery, commonly known as 291 after its address at 291 Fifth Avenue. The exhibition introduced her work to an influential circle of American modernists and helped establish her professional career.

O'Keeffe had not sent the drawings to Stieglitz herself; her friend and fellow artist Anita Pollitzer showed them to him. Stieglitz was impressed and included them in an exhibition. He later became O'Keeffe's husband, but the 1916 exhibition is significant independently because it marked her first major presentation in New York. The gallery closed in 1917 after Stieglitz moved his exhibition activities elsewhere.
