What was the title of Pixar's 2006 short film set in the Cars world?

The story behind the answer

Mater and the Ghostlight was Pixar's 2006 short film set in the Cars world.

The short follows Mater as the residents of Radiator Springs frighten him with a ghost story about the Ghostlight. After the prank, a mysterious blue light appears, giving the comedy a small supernatural twist within the otherwise mechanical setting.

It was directed by John Lasseter and Dan Scanlon and was released on the home-video edition of Cars. The short expands Mater's personality after his supporting role in the feature film and adds another piece of local folklore to Radiator Springs.

Mater's Tall Tales is a separate series of Cars-related shorts that began later. Because Mater appears in both projects, the titles are sometimes mixed up. The Ghostlight short is specifically associated with the original Cars home release.
