The Week in Rock was MTV’s celebrity interview and music-news series hosted by Kurt Loder, Tabitha Soren, and Chris Connelly.
The program was part of MTV’s expansion beyond continuous music videos into news, interviews, and cultural reporting. It presented music-industry stories and conversations with artists in a magazine-style format aimed at MTV’s young audience.
Kurt Loder became especially associated with MTV News through artist interviews, breaking music coverage, and reports from major cultural events. Tabitha Soren and Chris Connelly were also important MTV News correspondents during the channel’s influential 1990s period.
The title can be confused with MTV News, the broader news brand, or 120 Minutes, the alternative-music program. The Week in Rock specifically signaled a weekly music-news format.
