What was the title of Georgia O'Keeffe's 1932 painting that set a U.S. auction record in 2014?

The story behind the answer

Georgia O'Keeffe's 1932 painting Jimson Weed/White Flower No. 1 set a U.S. auction record in 2014.

The painting depicts a large white jimson weed flower against a pale background. O'Keeffe magnified flowers so dramatically that petals and centers fill the composition, encouraging viewers to notice forms they might otherwise overlook.

At Sotheby's in New York on November 20, 2014, the painting sold for $44.4 million, including the buyer's premium. It became the most expensive artwork by a female artist sold at auction at that time and set a U.S. auction record.

The record was later surpassed by other works, including paintings by women artists. The title is sometimes shortened to Jimson Weed, but the catalog title includes “White Flower No. 1.”
