Cerrone’s 1977 studio album featuring the influential disco track “Supernature” was titled Supernature.
The album was the third studio release by French drummer and producer Marc Cerrone. Its title track, “Supernature,” combined a driving four-on-the-floor rhythm with synthesizers and science-fiction-inspired lyrics about environmental destruction and genetic experimentation. The recording featured American singer-songwriter Jocelyn Brown on vocals.
“Supernature” became one of Cerrone’s best-known works and helped define the more electronic, theatrical side of late-1970s European disco. The album followed Cerrone’s earlier releases Love in C Minor and Cerrone’s Paradise, both of which established his reputation in the international dance scene.
A common mix-up is confusing the album with the single: both are called “Supernature,” but the album is the complete 1977 release, while the song is its title track. Cerrone later continued working in electronic dance music and produced numerous additional albums and singles.
