Beyoncé’s 2022 album that began her three-act project was Renaissance. It was released on July 29, 2022, as the first act of a planned trilogy.
The album is rooted in house, disco, funk, dance, and ballroom traditions. Beyoncé credited numerous composers and performers, and the project emphasizes the influence of Black and queer dance-music communities. Its lead single, “Break My Soul,” became her eighth number-one single on the Billboard Hot 100.
Renaissance received the Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Music Album at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards. The second act, Cowboy Carter, was released in 2024 and explores country and broader American musical traditions. The trilogy’s final act had not been released by October 2026.
