Beyoncé’s 2022 studio album was titled Renaissance.
Renaissance was released on July 29, 2022, as the first act of a planned three-part project. It marked Beyoncé’s return to a solo studio album after Lemonade in 2016, although she had released collaborative and soundtrack projects in the interim. The album draws heavily on house, disco, dance and queer club-music traditions.
Its lead single, “Break My Soul,” became Beyoncé’s eighth US Billboard Hot 100 number one as a solo artist. Other tracks include “Alien Superstar,” “Cuff It,” “Virgo’s Groove” and “Pure/Honey.” Renaissance debuted at number one in multiple countries and won the Grammy for Best Dance/Electronic Music Album.
The title is often confused with her later country-influenced album Cowboy Carter, released in 2024 as the second act. Renaissance specifically refers to the 2022 dance-oriented first act.
