What was the subtitle of MTV’s Laguna Beach reality series?

The subtitle of MTV’s Laguna Beach reality series was The Real Orange County.

The full title, Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County, identified the program as an unscripted look at teenagers living in Laguna Beach, California. MTV premiered the series in 2004, presenting school, friendships, romances, family life, and social tensions through a highly produced reality-TV style.

The subtitle also connected the show to the popularity of The O.C., a scripted television drama set in Orange County. Laguna Beach later led into The Hills, which followed cast member Lauren Conrad after her move to Los Angeles. Although viewers often connect the two series, The Hills was a spin-off, while The Real Orange County was the subtitle of Laguna Beach itself.
