Arsenal beat Coventry City 3–0 on the 2026–27 Premier League opening weekend.
The match was the season opener, played on Friday, 21 August 2026. Arsenal began their title defence with a clean-sheet victory against Coventry, one of the three clubs promoted from the Championship.
A 3–0 scoreline gave Arsenal three points and a goal difference of plus three after the first match. Coventry’s return to the Premier League therefore began with a defeat, although the club’s promotion itself marked its first top-flight appearance in 25 years.
This score is distinct from several other opening-round results. Brentford also won 3–0, against Tottenham Hotspur, while Chelsea won 3–2 away to Fulham. The 3–0 Arsenal result is also different from Brighton’s 4–0 home victory over Aston Villa, the round’s biggest home win.
