What was the release date of Halo: Reach?

The story behind the answer

Halo: Reach was released on September 14, 2010.

Bungie developed the game as a prequel to Halo: Combat Evolved. Its campaign follows Noble Team during the fall of the human colony world Reach, shortly before the events of the first Halo game.

The game introduced a new player character, Noble Six, rather than returning players to the role of Master Chief. It also served as Bungie’s final Halo game before 343 Industries became the franchise’s primary developer.

Halo: Reach is often confused with Halo 3 because both are major Xbox 360 entries, but Halo 3 launched in 2007. Reach arrived three years later and told an earlier story in the fictional timeline.
