The Pennsylvania State House was later renamed Independence Hall, where the Declaration of Independence was adopted for the event commemorated by America250.
The building was completed in Philadelphia in 1753 as the Pennsylvania State House. It served as the meeting place of the Second Continental Congress when delegates approved the Declaration of Independence in 1776.
The building acquired the name Independence Hall during the nineteenth century, reflecting its association with the Declaration and the founding of the United States. It is also famous as the meeting place of the Constitutional Convention in 1787, where delegates drafted the United States Constitution.
The Liberty Bell was housed in the same complex, but it is a separate object and should not be confused with the building itself. Today, Independence Hall is part of Independence National Historical Park and is recognized as a major American historic site.
