What was the original name of the company now known as Broadcom Inc.?

The company now known as Broadcom Inc. was originally called Avago Technologies.

Avago Technologies was formed in 2005 when Agilent Technologies separated its semiconductor products into an independent company. It became a major supplier of chips used in communications, storage, and industrial systems.

In 2015, Avago Technologies announced its acquisition of Broadcom Corporation. After the transaction closed in 2016, the combined company adopted the Broadcom name, while the legal corporate structure remained that of Avago Technologies. This is why Broadcom's history includes both Avago and the earlier Broadcom Corporation.

Broadcom Inc. is distinct from Broadcom Corporation, the older semiconductor company it acquired. The modern company later expanded through major purchases, including CA Technologies and VMware, becoming one of the world's most valuable technology businesses.
