What was the original in-universe title of TGS before Tracy Jordan joined?

The story behind the answer

The original in-universe title of TGS before Tracy Jordan joined was The Girlie Show.

In 30 Rock’s pilot, Liz Lemon is the head writer of The Girlie Show, a fictional NBC sketch-comedy program. Network executive Jack Donaghy pressures her to add movie star Tracy Jordan to attract a younger male audience. After Tracy becomes part of the cast, the program is generally referred to as TGS with Tracy Jordan, abbreviated as TGS.

The title is a deliberate parody of Saturday Night Live-style variety programming and reflects the show’s early premise: Liz is trying to manage a difficult workplace before Tracy’s arrival transforms the production. The name is sometimes shortened informally to TGS, but that abbreviation does not replace the original title. The similar-sounding distractors are not titles used for the program in the series.

The fictional show-within-the-show is central to 30 Rock’s setup. It gives the series a backstage structure while allowing Tina Fey to satirize television writers’ rooms, network executives, performers, and corporate interference.
