Season 3 of the original The Wonder Years ranked eighth in the Nielsen ratings.
The third season aired on ABC from October 3, 1989, through May 16, 1990, and consisted of 23 episodes. Its season-average rating was 19.2, placing the show at No. 8 among the programs measured for that television season.
That ranking reflects the series’ strong position during its early peak. The show had already broken into the Nielsen Top 30 in each of its first four seasons, and season 3 performed substantially better than seasons 2 and 4 in the overall ranking table. Season 2 placed 22nd, while season 4 fell to 30th.
The number is a season ranking, not an episode rating or a household-percentage score. Nielsen ratings also differ from audience share and from the individual ratings printed beside episodes. The show’s later decline is visible in the table: season 5 ranked 32nd and season 6 ranked 54th, even though the program remained culturally influential.
