What was the name of Thomas Edison’s second wife, whom he married in 1886?

The story behind the answer

Thomas Edison’s second wife was Mina Miller, whom he married in 1886.

Mina Miller was the daughter of Lewis Miller, an inventor and co-founder of the Chautauqua Institution. Edison met her through social connections after the death of his first wife, Mary Stilwell. Edison and Mina married on February 24, 1886.

The couple had three children: Madeleine, Charles, and Theodore Miller Edison. Mina helped manage the family’s public and private life while Edison concentrated on invention and business. Their home, Glenmont, became part of the Edison National Historical Park in New Jersey.

Mina Miller is sometimes mixed up with Mary Stilwell because both women were Edison’s wives and both had children with him. Miller was the second wife and survived Edison; she died in 1947, more than a decade after his death.
