The woman Doc fell in love with in Back to the Future was Clara. Her full name is Clara Clayton, and she becomes Doc Brown’s romantic partner in Back to the Future Part III.
Clara is introduced when Doc travels to Hill Valley in 1885. She is a schoolteacher whose wagon is destined to plunge into a ravine. In the original timeline, the accident kills her, and the ravine is named Clayton Ravine in her memory. Marty and Doc’s actions alter that history, allowing Doc to rescue Clara.
Clara and Doc connect through their shared curiosity and unconventional personalities. She is fascinated by Doc’s stories about science and the future, while Doc discovers that his life has room for more than experiments and time machines. Their relationship creates the emotional center of the third film.
By the end of the story, Doc chooses to remain with Clara in the past rather than return permanently to 1985. They have two sons, Jules and Verne, and later appear with a time-traveling locomotive. Clara is portrayed by Mary Steenburgen.
