What was the name of the Tesla factory in Shanghai that began producing cars in 2019?

The story behind the answer

The Tesla factory in Shanghai that began producing cars in 2019 is Gigafactory Shanghai.

Gigafactory Shanghai, also called Gigafactory 3, is Tesla’s electric-vehicle manufacturing plant in Shanghai, China. Construction began in 2019, and the facility became Tesla’s first major vehicle factory outside the United States. It began producing Model 3 vehicles in the same year.

The factory helped Tesla manufacture cars closer to customers in China and other Asian markets. It has also produced Model Y vehicles and components. Its development was significant because it was built under a new foreign-investment framework that allowed Tesla to operate a wholly owned plant in China.

Gigafactory Shanghai is distinct from Gigafactory Nevada, Gigafactory Texas, and Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg. Those facilities are located in different countries or regions and have different production histories.
