What was the name of the swamp biome in Chapter 1?

The name associated with Fortnite’s original Chapter 1 swamp area was Moisty Mire. It occupied the southeastern part of the Chapter 1 island and was known for muddy terrain, shallow water, trees, marshland, and wooden structures.

Moisty Mire was present from Fortnite Battle Royale’s early seasons and became one of the map’s most recognizable environmental regions. Its swampy setting made movement and visibility feel different from nearby areas, while film-set scenery and scattered loot gave the location its distinctive character.

The area changed significantly over time. In Chapter 1, Season 5, the swamp was replaced by a desert biome, although the Moisty Mire name remained part of Fortnite’s early map history. The location later returned in altered form as Moisty Palms during Season X, where players could transform into objects while crouching.

Players sometimes confuse Moisty Mire with Slurpy Swamp, but they belonged to different periods and map locations. Slurpy Swamp was a later Chapter 2 swamp location, while Moisty Mire is the classic Chapter 1 answer.
