What was the name of the McDonald's character who was Mayor of McDonaldland?

The McDonald's character who served as Mayor of McDonaldland was Mayor McCheese.

Mayor McCheese was a humanlike mayor with a large cheeseburger for a head. He appeared in McDonald's advertising as part of McDonaldland, the fictional setting that grouped together the brand's characters and locations.

The character was designed to make the restaurant world more imaginative for children. His formal title distinguished him from characters such as the Hamburglar, Captain Crook, and Grimace, each of whom had a different role in the advertising cast.

Mayor McCheese is sometimes confused with the Big Mac character because both use hamburger imagery. The Big Mac character was a separate figure, while Mayor McCheese was defined by his elected-official persona and mayoral clothing.
