Noah was the man who built the ark in the Genesis account.
Genesis presents Noah as a righteous man chosen to survive the coming flood with his family. God instructs him to construct the ark, enter it with his household, and preserve representative animal life.
Noah is the central human figure in the biblical flood narrative, but he is also important in other traditions. In the Quran, he is called Nuh, and the flood story includes a ship built under divine instruction. Mesopotamian literature gives the survivor different names, including Utnapishtim and Atrahasis.
These related stories can create confusion about names. Moses, Abraham, and Job are other biblical figures, but none is the builder of Noah’s Ark.
