What was the name of the group Beyoncé co-founded with Kelly Rowland?

The story behind the answer

Beyoncé co-founded Destiny’s Child with Kelly Rowland. The group began in Houston in the early 1990s and became one of the best-selling female groups in music history.

The group developed from a youth act originally known as Girl’s Tyme. Its lineup changed several times before the best-known version formed around Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams. Destiny’s Child signed with Columbia Records and achieved major success with songs such as “Say My Name,” “Survivor,” and “Bootylicious.”

Their 1999 album The Writing’s on the Wall established the group as a major R&B act. “Say My Name” won two Grammy Awards, including Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals. The group’s themes often included independence, self-respect, and resilience.

Destiny’s Child announced a hiatus in 2002 as Beyoncé’s solo career expanded. The trio reunited for selected performances, but its final studio album, Destiny Fulfilled, was released in 2004. The group formally disbanded in 2006.
