What was the name of the CSI character played by Paul Guilfoyle?

Paul Guilfoyle played Captain Jim Brass on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. Brass was an experienced Las Vegas police captain who often served as the link between the police department and the CSI team.

At the beginning of the series, Brass supervised the homicide division. After moving away from that role, he continued to investigate cases and work alongside the forensic team, bringing traditional police interviewing and street-level experience to investigations built around scientific evidence.

Brass was one of the show’s original characters and remained a major presence for fourteen seasons. Guilfoyle left the regular cast in 2014 but returned for the two-hour series finale, “Immortality,” in 2015. He also reprised Jim Brass in CSI: Vegas, which continued the Las Vegas branch of the franchise.

The most common mix-up is with Warrick Brown, Nick Stokes, or Greg Sanders, who were CSI investigators rather than the police captain played by Guilfoyle.
