At which Chicago museum did CSI: The Experience debut in May 2007?

The story behind the answer

CSI: The Experience debuted at Chicago’s Museum of Science and Industry in May 2007.

The opening placed the new touring exhibition inside one of Chicago’s major science museums and introduced visitors to forensic investigation through interactive crime-solving activities. A press preview took place on May 23, 2007, with several CSI cast members attending the opening events and touring the exhibit.

Rather than presenting only memorabilia from the television series, the exhibition asked visitors to examine staged evidence. Its activities included crime-scene investigation, trace-evidence analysis, forensic art, DNA examination and pathology. Visitors then used the information they gathered to answer questions and present their conclusions.

The Fort Worth Museum of Science and History helped develop the exhibition with CBS Consumer Products and the National Science Foundation. After its Chicago debut, it traveled to museums and science centers in other parts of the United States and internationally. The location is sometimes confused with Chicago’s Field Museum or Adler Planetarium, but neither was the launch venue.
