What was the name of the company that commissioned Georgia O'Keeffe to paint Hawaiian subjects in 1939?

The story behind the answer

The Hawaiian Pineapple Company commissioned Georgia O'Keeffe to paint Hawaiian subjects in 1939.

The company invited O'Keeffe to Hawaii for about nine weeks in 1939. It wanted paintings of plants and landscapes that could be used in advertising, especially in connection with its pineapple business.

O'Keeffe produced a group of paintings during and after the trip, including Hawaiian flowers, plants, waterfalls, and other local subjects. She did not simply follow every requested advertising idea: she famously painted a pineapple only after the company sent one to her in New Mexico.

The Hawaiian Pineapple Company later became associated with the Dole brand, but Dole Food Company is not the name of the commissioning company in this episode. The trip expanded O'Keeffe's subject matter while retaining her close attention to organic shapes and color.
