What was the name of the ancient Persian capital built by Cyrus the Great in modern Fars Province?

The story behind the answer

The ancient Persian capital built by Cyrus the Great in modern Fars Province was Pasargadae.

Pasargadae was founded by Cyrus the Great in the sixth century BCE, probably after his victory over the Median king Astyages. It became the first dynastic capital of the Achaemenid Empire and occupied a broad plain in the Persian homeland of Fars.

The site contains monumental architecture, including the Tomb of Cyrus, palace buildings, gardens, and the so-called Gate of All Lands. Its layout is associated with the early development of the Persian garden tradition. The surviving remains also show how Achaemenid architecture combined local Iranian forms with influences from other parts of the empire.

Pasargadae is often confused with Persepolis because both were royal centers in Fars. Persepolis was developed later, especially under Darius I. Pasargadae remained symbolically important as the place connected with Cyrus and the earliest Achaemenid royal monuments.
