What was the main royal residence of the Sasanian king at Firuzabad called?

The story behind the answer

The Palace of Ardashir was the main royal residence built at Firuzabad by the Sasanian founder Ardashir I.

The palace, also known as Atash-kadeh, stands near the ancient city of Gor, which Ardashir established in Fars. Its construction is generally dated to the early third century CE, after Ardashir defeated the last Parthian king and founded the Sasanian Empire in 224 CE.

The building uses massive masonry, domes, iwans, and squinches to support its vaulted spaces. These features became influential in later Iranian architecture and helped shape the distinctive Sasanian architectural tradition.

It is not an Achaemenid palace despite its location in the historic Persian heartland. The palace belongs to the Sasanian period, nearly seven centuries after Persepolis flourished.
