What was the name of Stanley Kubrick’s second feature film, Killer’s Kiss?

The story behind the answer

Killer’s Kiss was Stanley Kubrick’s second feature film.

Released in 1955, Killer’s Kiss is a film noir about a struggling boxer, a dancer, and the violent criminal connected to her. Kubrick wrote, directed, photographed, and edited the film, giving the low-budget production a tightly controlled visual style.

The movie followed Fear and Desire, Kubrick’s 1953 first feature, and preceded The Killing, his 1956 crime film. Killer’s Kiss is therefore an important link in Kubrick’s early development: it shows him moving from an allegorical war story toward urban crime and noir conventions.

The film was shot largely in New York City, and its climax in a mannequin warehouse is among its most memorable sequences. It is sometimes confused with The Killing because both are early crime films, but The Killing concerns a racetrack robbery and was released one year later.
