What was the name of Sesame Street's 1990s thrift shop?

The story behind the answer

The name of Sesame Street’s 1990s thrift shop was Finders Keepers.

Finders Keepers was a second-hand store operated by Ruthie, a human character played by Ruth Buzzi. It appeared in the “Around the Corner” expansion of Sesame Street, which added new storefronts and locations to the familiar neighborhood set.

The shop’s merchandise had a playful fairy-tale connection: many of its objects had previously belonged to nursery-rhyme and fairy-tale characters. That detail helped distinguish it from the street’s other businesses. The Mail-It Shop handled letters and packages, the Fix-It Shop repaired household items, and Hooper’s Store served as a general store and lunch counter.

“Around the Corner” was used primarily from Seasons 25 through 29. Although the expanded setting was eventually dropped, Ruthie continued appearing in inserts for several more seasons. The shop is therefore easy to confuse with other Sesame Street locations, but Finders Keepers is the canonical name associated with the thrift store.
