What was the name of Georgia O'Keeffe's New Mexico home near a distinctive patio door?

The story behind the answer

Georgia O’Keeffe’s New Mexico home near the distinctive patio door was Abiquiú House.

O’Keeffe acquired the abandoned adobe house in Abiquiú, New Mexico, in 1945 and spent several years restoring it. She moved into the house in 1949, and it became one of her principal homes and studios.

A courtyard wall with a black door became one of the most recognizable subjects associated with the house. O’Keeffe painted and photographed the door repeatedly because she found its shapes, shadows, and surrounding architecture visually compelling. The motif shows how she could turn an ordinary architectural detail into a carefully composed abstract image.

The Georgia O’Keeffe Home and Studio is now preserved by the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum. It is distinct from Ghost Ranch, another New Mexico location where O’Keeffe lived and worked. Both places strongly influenced her art, but the Abiquiú property was her year-round home later in life.
