Answer
Alfred Stieglitz
Georgia O'Keeffe's husband, the photographer and gallerist, was Alfred Stieglitz.
Stieglitz was a major figure in American photography and modern-art promotion. He operated influential galleries in New York and published the journals Camera Work and 291. He first exhibited O'Keeffe's drawings in 1916, before the couple married.
O'Keeffe and Stieglitz married in 1924. Their relationship was both personal and professionally important, although O'Keeffe's career cannot be reduced to his support. She developed a highly individual body of work, became a celebrated painter, and increasingly spent time away from New York in New Mexico.
Stieglitz made hundreds of photographs of O'Keeffe, creating a famous photographic record of her over many years. He died in 1946. O'Keeffe then moved permanently to New Mexico in 1949, while continuing to maintain her own artistic identity and reputation.
