Answer
Abiquiú House
Answer
Abiquiú House
Georgia O'Keeffe’s Abiquiú home, known for its black door, is called Abiquiú House.
O'Keeffe acquired the abandoned adobe house in Abiquiú, New Mexico, in 1945 and spent years having it restored. She moved into it in 1949, the same year she moved permanently to New Mexico after Stieglitz’s death.
A distinctive black door set in an adobe wall became one of her recurring subjects. She photographed and painted the view repeatedly because of its geometry, texture, and changing light.
The Abiquiú property is separate from Ghost Ranch, where O'Keeffe also maintained a home. The house and studio are preserved as a National Historic Landmark and are associated with the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum.
