What was the name of Disney’s Bicentennial parade presented at Disneyland and Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom?

The story behind the answer

Disney’s Bicentennial parade presented at Disneyland and Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom was called America on Parade.

The parade was created to celebrate the United States Bicentennial and two Disney milestones: Disneyland’s 20th anniversary and the Magic Kingdom’s fifth anniversary. It featured floats, costumed performers, historical themes, music, and fireworks.

America on Parade first ran during the summer of 1975, before the anniversary year itself, and continued through the bicentennial period. At Disneyland, the route traveled from the It’s a Small World area toward Town Square. At the Magic Kingdom, it traveled from Liberty Square toward Town Square on Main Street, U.S.A.

The production is distinct from Disneyland’s Main Street Electrical Parade, although the older parade was temporarily replaced by America on Parade. The Sherman Brothers wrote “The Glorious Fourth” specifically for the patriotic production.
