What was the name of Desmond Hume’s sailboat in the TV series Lost?

The story behind the answer

Desmond Hume’s sailboat in the TV series Lost was named Elizabeth.

Desmond acquires the boat while preparing to sail around the world. His journey is interrupted when he is shipwrecked on the island, where he becomes the occupant of the Swan station and must enter a computer code every 108 minutes.

The name Elizabeth is a reference to Elizabeth “Libby” Smith, a woman Desmond meets before reaching the island. Libby gives him the boat after learning about his planned voyage, linking Desmond’s personal story to another survivor’s history.

The boat is not the same vessel as the Black Rock, the nineteenth-century slave ship that reaches the island in the show’s backstory. Desmond’s relationship with Penny Widmore is also central to his character, but Penny is not the name of his sailboat.
