What was the name of Billy Joel's 2001 classical album?

The story behind the answer

Billy Joel's 2001 classical album was “Fantasies & Delusions.” It marked a striking change of direction for an artist best known for rock and pop songs built around piano, band arrangements, and vocals.

The album is subtitled Music for Solo Piano and contains ten classical-style pieces, identified as Opus 1 through Opus 10. Joel composed the works, but pianist Richard Hyung-ki Joo performed them on the recording. Joel had long drawn on classical influences, yet this project presented those ideas without his usual singing or rock ensemble.

The album followed Joel's 1993 pop release River of Dreams and became his thirteenth and final studio album. Its title deliberately evokes the imaginative, dreamlike quality of the pieces rather than naming a conventional pop theme. The record is therefore often remembered as a side project, but it is officially part of Joel's studio-album catalog.

Listeners sometimes confuse it with The Stranger or 52nd Street, two of Joel's major earlier pop albums. Neither is a classical recording, and neither was released in 2001.
