What was the name of Beyoncé’s 2023 country-influenced album released before Cowboy Carter?
Answer
There was no such album
There was no Beyoncé country-influenced album released before Cowboy Carter; Cowboy Carter itself was released in 2024.
Beyoncé announced Cowboy Carter as the second act of a planned trilogy connected to Renaissance. She released the singles “Texas Hold ’Em” and “16 Carriages” in February 2024, and the album followed on March 29, 2024. It explores country, Americana, blues, folk, rock, and related traditions.
The question is designed to distinguish the album from Renaissance, which was released in 2022 and served as the trilogy’s first act. Renaissance is strongly associated with dance and house music, not as a preceding country album.
Another possible mix-up is The Gift, Beyoncé’s 2019 album connected to The Lion King: The Gift. That project draws on African musical styles and features many guest artists, but it is not a country album. Cowboy Carter is the relevant country-oriented title, and it was the album itself—not a prior release.
