What was the last film directed by Stanley Kubrick released after his death?

The story behind the answer

Eyes Wide Shut was the last film directed by Stanley Kubrick and was released after his death. Kubrick completed the film shortly before dying in March 1999; Warner Bros. released it in the United States on July 16, 1999, several months later.

The psychological drama stars Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman as Dr. Bill Harford and Alice Harford, a married couple whose conversations about fidelity lead Bill through a strange night of jealousy, desire, secrecy, and social power. It was adapted from Arthur Schnitzler’s 1926 novella Traumnovelle, translated as Dream Story.

Eyes Wide Shut was Kubrick’s final completed feature and his first film after Full Metal Jacket, released twelve years earlier. A frequent confusion concerns A.I. Artificial Intelligence: Kubrick developed that project for years, but Steven Spielberg directed it after Kubrick’s death. It is therefore not Kubrick’s last directed film.
