What was the Japanese release date of Pokémon Snap for the Nintendo 64?

The story behind the answer

Pokémon Snap was released in Japan for the Nintendo 64 on March 21, 1999.

Developed by HAL Laboratory and published by Nintendo, Pokémon Snap made photography the central activity of a Pokémon game. Players controlled Todd Snap, who travelled through Pokémon Island in the Zero-One vehicle and photographed creatures for Professor Oak.

The game was originally announced for the Nintendo 64DD, but development moved to the standard Nintendo 64 after delays affecting the disk-based peripheral. Its guided courses included environments such as a beach, tunnel, volcano, river, cave, valley, and Rainbow Cloud.

Pokémon Snap featured 63 Pokémon from the original group of 151. It later became notable for real-time 3D Pokémon imagery and for photo-printing promotions at Lawson stores in Japan and Blockbuster stores in North America.
