What was the height of the Berlin Wall’s concrete segments? The final standard concrete segments were 3.6 metres high. These reinforced-concrete sections belonged to the Wall’s fourth-generation design, installed mainly from 1975 and completed around 1980.

Known as Grenzmauer 75, the final system used thousands of separate prefabricated sections with a smooth, rounded pipe along the top. The design made climbing harder and was more resistant to attempts to break through by vehicle. It is the version most commonly seen in photographs and in surviving Wall fragments.

The Wall was not identical everywhere throughout its history. Early barriers included barbed wire, concrete blocks, and simpler walls, while some sections used different materials or dimensions. That is why figures such as 3.4 metres or 3.75 metres can appear in descriptions of particular structures. For the standard final concrete segments, however, 3.6 metres is the conventional measurement.
