The first name of the “Unsinkable” Molly Brown was Margaret. She was born Margaret Tobin in Hannibal, Missouri, in 1867, and later became Margaret Tobin Brown after marrying mining engineer James Joseph Brown.

“Molly” was not originally her formal first name.
