What was the first crate series introduced in Rocket League?

The story behind the answer

The first crate series introduced in Rocket League was Champion Crate 1, officially styled Champions Crate 1.

Psyonix introduced the Champions Crates in the September 8, 2016, version 1.22 update. These were Rocket League’s first loot crates, offering randomized cosmetic items such as decals, wheels, rocket boosts, and car bodies. Players opened them with Keys, while a portion of the proceeds supported Rocket League esports prize pools.

Champions Crate 1 contained items including Chakram wheels, the Dominus GT body, Trinity boost, Takumi RX-T, Photon wheels, and Looper wheels. Its release helped establish the crate-and-key economy that later became a major part of Rocket League’s customization system.

The crate was retired on July 5, 2017, when the anniversary update retired the Champions series and introduced the Overdrive Crate. Crates themselves were eventually replaced by Blueprints in 2019. “Player’s Choice Crate” was an early later series, while Elevation and Nitro came after the original Champions release.
