What was the final score when South Africa beat England in the 2019 Rugby World Cup final?

The story behind the answer

The 2019 Rugby World Cup final ended with South Africa beating England 32–12.

The final was played on 2 November 2019 at International Stadium Yokohama in Japan. South Africa led 12–6 at half-time after four successful penalties by Handré Pollard, while England’s points came from two penalties by Owen Farrell.

South Africa pulled away after the interval. Makazole Mapimpi scored the first try in the 66th minute, and Cheslin Kolbe added another in the 74th minute. Pollard converted both tries, while Farrell kicked two second-half penalties for England.

The victory gave South Africa its third men’s Rugby World Cup title, matching New Zealand’s total at that time. Siya Kolisi became the first Black captain to lead South Africa to the trophy. The result is sometimes confused with the 2007 final, when South Africa also defeated England, but that match finished 15–6.
