Arsenal beat Coventry City 3–0 on the 2026–27 Premier League opening weekend.
The match took place at the Emirates Stadium on 21 August 2026, beginning the new Premier League season. Arsenal entered the campaign as defending champions, while Coventry City were newly promoted after returning to the top flight.
Arsenal’s victory gave them three points and a positive goal difference immediately. Coventry’s defeat made the adjustment to Premier League football especially difficult, although the club’s promotion itself was a major milestone after a long absence from the division.
The result is sometimes confused with the other opening-weekend wins by promoted clubs. Hull City defeated Manchester United, and Ipswich Town beat Sunderland, but Arsenal–Coventry was the season’s first match and ended 3–0.
