What was the birth name of The Notorious B.I.G.?

The story behind the answer

The birth name of The Notorious B.I.G. was Christopher Wallace.

Wallace was born on May 21, 1972, in Brooklyn, New York. He became widely known as The Notorious B.I.G., Biggie Smalls, and simply Biggie. His 1994 debut album, Ready to Die, established him as one of the most important figures in East Coast hip hop.

The name Biggie Smalls came from a character in the 1975 film Let's Do It Again, although a similarly named fictional character led Wallace to use The Notorious B.I.G. professionally. His stage names are sometimes confused with his birth identity, Christopher George Latore Wallace.

Wallace died in Los Angeles on March 9, 1997, at age 24. His posthumous album Life After Death was released later that month and became one of the best-known albums in rap history.
