Taylor Swift's "august" peaked at number 5 on Billboard's Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart. The song debuted at that position and remained there as its highest ranking on the chart.
The chart result reflects the song's hybrid musical character. Wikipedia describes "august" as combining dream pop, guitar pop, and soft rock, while critics also discussed its more pop-oriented production within Folklore's broader sound.
The track stayed on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart for 20 weeks. That run is separate from its two-week appearance on the Billboard Hot 100, where it debuted at number 23.
The number 5 result is easy to confuse with the song's number 46 peak on the Billboard Global 200. Those figures measure different chart systems and audiences, so each number belongs to a distinct achievement.
