Taylor Swift’s “august” peaked at number 23 on the United States Billboard Hot 100. It entered the chart on the week dated August 8, 2020, after Folklore’s release.
The song’s chart performance was notable because it was not promoted as a conventional pre-release single. All 16 standard Folklore tracks entered the Hot 100 after the surprise album launch, giving several album cuts substantial visibility.
The number 23 peak is sometimes confused with the song’s positions on genre-specific or international charts. “august” reached number five on Billboard’s Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart and later returned to charts in other countries during its annual August resurgence.
