Taylor Swift’s “august” entered the US Billboard Hot 100 at number 23 in 2020.
The song appeared on the chart dated August 8, 2020, shortly after Folklore’s surprise release. Its chart appearance reflected the album’s strong opening week and the fact that listeners streamed and purchased multiple tracks at once. “august” was not released as Folklore’s lead single, yet it became one of the album’s most recognized songs.
The number 23 is an entry position, not the song’s highest position on every chart worldwide. “august” also appeared on international charts and later became known for recurring seasonal streaming interest. Chart positions can therefore vary by country, chart type, and year.
A frequent mix-up is the number 46, which refers to the song’s peak on the Billboard Global 200, a different chart measuring activity across multiple territories. The US Hot 100 and Global 200 should not be treated as interchangeable rankings.
