What was Nirvana's first album?

Nirvana’s first album was Bleach.

Released by the Seattle independent label Sub Pop on June 15, 1989, Bleach was Nirvana’s debut studio album. Its heavy, abrasive sound drew on punk, underground rock, and heavy metal, giving the band an early identity that was much rougher than the polished alternative rock of its later breakthrough.

The album was recorded mainly at Reciprocal Recording in Seattle with producer Jack Endino. Jason Everman helped pay for the sessions and was credited as a guitarist, although he did not actually play on the finished record. Chad Channing played drums on most of the original album.

Bleach initially sold modestly and did not chart in the United States. After Nevermind made Nirvana internationally famous, Geffen reissued it in 1992, bringing new attention to tracks such as “About a Girl” and “Blew.” It remains the band’s only studio album released by Sub Pop.
