McDonald's first internationally used global advertising slogan, launched in 2003, was “I'm Lovin' It.”
The campaign marked a major shift toward a unified worldwide marketing message. Instead of relying mainly on separate national slogans, McDonald's used one central phrase across many markets, with local adaptations in language and execution.
The campaign's music and short, memorable wording were designed to connect the brand with enjoyment and everyday experiences. The English form became especially recognizable through its repeated use in advertising, packaging, and restaurant communications.
People sometimes confuse “I'm Lovin' It” with earlier McDonald's slogans such as “You Deserve a Break Today,” which belonged to a different advertising era. The 2003 campaign is also associated with the singer Justin Timberlake, who appeared in promotional material connected with the song used in the campaign, but the slogan itself is the branding answer.
