Louis C.K.’s television series about a fictionalized version of his life was called Louie.
Louie premiered on FX in 2010 and starred Louis C.K. as a version of himself: a divorced stand-up comedian raising two daughters in New York City. The series blended scripted scenes with stand-up segments and frequently used an unusual, nonlinear structure.
Louis C.K. wrote, directed, edited, and produced much of the program, giving it a highly personal style. Episodes could move between ordinary family situations, surreal events, uncomfortable conversations, and observational comedy without following a conventional sitcom format.
Louie should not be confused with Lucky Louie, an earlier HBO sitcom in which Louis C.K. also starred. Horace and Pete was a separate 2016 web series created by him, while Better Things was created by Pamela Adlon and Louis C.K.
