What was Lady Gaga's first acting role in a feature film?

The story behind the answer

Lady Gaga’s first acting role in a feature film was in Machete Kills.

She made her feature-film acting debut in Robert Rodriguez’s 2013 action film Machete Kills, playing La Camaleón, a mysterious assassin and disguise expert. The film stars Danny Trejo as Machete and forms the sequel to 2010’s Machete.

Gaga’s involvement attracted attention because she was already one of pop music’s biggest stars, yet the production kept much of her role under wraps before the announcement. Her performance also became part of the film’s deliberately exaggerated, comic-book-style world of spies, assassins, and outrageous action.

A frequent mix-up is American Horror Story: Hotel, which was Gaga’s first major television acting role and earned her a Golden Globe. A Star Is Born came much later, in 2018, and became her most acclaimed film performance, but it was not her first feature-film role.
